PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (WTVM) - Callaway Gardens' "Fantasy in Lights" has been featured in CNN's list of five real-life wonderlands.
"Fantasy in Lights," now in its twenty-first year, includes eight-million lights in 15 seasonal scenes, making it one of the largest displays nationwide. The massive lights display hasn't added a new scene since 2000, and yet it has lost none of its holiday power.
"It's amazing to see the faces of the people as they come through the gates, and they leave, and they make those Christmas memories," said Callaway Gardens spokeswoman Rachel Crumbley.
The Georgia resort draws guests year-round, but Crumbley said "Fantasy in Lights" is special, drawing both couples and families.
"Yahoo Travel also named us one of the top as one of the top five places to see holiday lights, and of course, that's coming on the heels of National Geographic naming us one of the top ten places to see holiday lights in the world," said Crumbley. "As well as the Access Atlanta readers last year voted us the top in the state of Georgia and in Atlanta, as well as the Weather Channel viewers named us one of the top five last year, as well."
"Fantasy in Lights" is going on now through December 30. You are advised to get your tickets early, as they are selling out fast.
"It's just on such a grand scale," Crumbley said, "and with the music combined with the lights combined with the themes, I think it kind of resonates."
