ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Coming off their most successful season in more than a decade, the Monroe Lady Tornadoes have continued their winning ways to start the season.

A season that the Lady Tornadoes will have an even better finish.

The Monroe girls are unbeaten through their first seven games.

Their latest win was a victory at defending region Crisp County last Friday night.

Monroe's hot start follows last spring when the Lady Tornadoes reached their first final four since 1998.

With most of last season's team back, head coach Cheryl Cheeks believes the final four run has given her squad a dose of confidence.

"I think the returning players understand what it takes to get where he got too. They know what it is going to take even more to get to at least to the final four. Just understand our hard work pays off. We come in every night, every day just trying to get better every day," said head coach Cheryl Cheeks.

The unbeaten Monroe girls and boys teams will host rival Westover on Friday starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Monroe Gym.
