Columbus Housing Authority proposes renovating BTW apartments

Posted: Updated:

Officials from the Columbus Housing Authority appeared before Columbus City Council Tuesday morning to present a multi-million dollar plan to renovate Booker T. Washington apartments.

The project would be broken down into two phases - with construction possibly starting on the first phase in 2014.

Early estimates show each phase would cost about $16 million.

The housing authority says most of the money for the project would come from a tax credit from the state that they would have to apply for. Included in the proposal, is a plan for the housing authority to invest $4 million to each phase and a request to the city to invest $1.5 million in each phase.
