GBI updating sex offender registry

State officials in Georgia say they're trying to catch up with a sex offender registry system that is seriously backlogged.

Sexual predators who are considered likely to commit more sex crimes are required to update their sex offender registration twice a year and wear a GPS monitor.

We're told five analysts at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are currently working through 4,300 pending cases while also getting up to 150 new cases a month.
