Ludy's put on annual holiday lights spectacular

It is a little after 5 p.m., and Jerry Ludy is getting his yard ready for hundreds to drop by his home. Ludy and his son work together on the special project.

"We start in the second week of August, It takes us about a thousand man hours to put this together," Ludy said.

There are more than 100,000 lights that add up to more than 4 miles of wires. The show not only includes the Ludy's yard but their neighbors' as well. All of the lights are synchronized with holiday music. Jerry says his project started more than 20 years ago, and the fascination grew from a gift he received as a child.
"My mother let me have a set of lights and at that point when I was about 12-13 years old it just kind of snow-balled from there," Ludy said.

At dark the Ludy's house roars to life, lighting up Ironstone Drive in Columbus. Parents and children get a kick out of the music and lights display. It's not all just for show but for a good cause. The Ludy's have donation buckets setup to go towards the Make a Wish Foundation.

"I think it's really great because they have the ability to draw crowds with their display you know people come by to see it and when they come by they can drop a few dollars in the bucket or whatever they can do and they are benefiting the make a wish foundation which is a really great cause," Ludy said.

If you would like to see the Ludy's Christmas light spectacular you can do so starting at 6 p.m. every evening.
