(WTVM) -
Recently, we have been highlighting
adoptable animals in our 5:30 pm newscast on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We typically show dogs and cats, but
even a rabbit has made an appearance on our show! As of last Thursday, we have
shown 47 animals. Of those, 35 have been adopted and are now in their forever
homes.
Ten were rescued by outside shelters.
Two remained at the shelter, with one being put to sleep.
On an average week, six people go into
the shelter saying they've seen our segments and adopt an animal from
the ones we've shown, and additional animals there.
On Saturday, December 29 from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m. at Columbus Animal Care and Control at 4910 Milgen Road there will be
a candlelight vigil for the 4,000 animals euthanized at animal control this
year, put on by No Kill Columbus.
Thanks to those of you who have
adopted pets, and I encourage all of you to go to your local shelter and choose
a pet to be your companion.
