There has been a lot of hype over bulletproof backpacks following the Sandy Hook shooting.
These backpacks have a light armor in the lining that is designed to stop bullets from handguns. In an attempt to keep their children safe, many parents have already ordered these backpacks.
However, an Alabama police spokesman says it may be comfort to parents, but it's not practical.
"We have similar stuff for law enforcement that are bulletproof clipboards. Unless they are being held between you and the threat, they are not really much good. If it makes someone feel better to have, then it's not a problem but there is not really much utility in it."
