BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Law enforcement officers will be out in force on the roads across Louisiana this week.

It's peak time for DWI arrests just before the New Year.

The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign helps law enforcement make sure those celebrating on New Year's Eve actually make it safely into 2013.

Last year, law enforcement made more than 30,000 DWI arrests in Louisiana.

"Last year, about 41 percent of our fatal crashes involved alcohol," said John LeBlanc, executive director of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. "So, we try to designate our resources where they do the most good and we know that if we can have an impact here, we can save some lives."

The campaign is paid for by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
