A federal grand jury has indicted five men from Mexico and one from Guatemala for illegally re-entering the country after having been deported.

Officials in the U.S. Attorney's office for the Northern District of Alabama say some of the men had been deported from the country multiple times.

Authorities say one man, 20-year-old Francisco Gallegos-Trujillo, was deported to Mexico from Texas and Arizona twice between September and October of 2011.

Officials say illegally re-entering the country after being deported is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
