BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

A truck reported stolen out of Bessemer has been found, but the dog taken along with the truck is still missing.

The incident happened Monday morning at the Hope Animal Clinic off of Morgan Road, just south of I-459 in Bessemer.

Tyler Duncan came to the clinic to pick up his golden retriever and left his brother's dog Abby in his silver F-150 pickup with the window cracked. He turned the engine off, but left the keys inside.

Unfortunately, the truck was also parked out of view from a security camera. Duncan says the suspect managed to reach in, open the door and take off with Abby still inside.

Duncan says Abby did not have her collar on and is not micro-chipped. She's a nine-year-old chocolate lab that weighs about 50 pounds.

Monday afternoon, Duncan called to say his truck was found in an area off of South Shades Crest near the Southpointe subdivision. Abby is still missing.

Duncan, family and friends are searching the woods in the nearby area, hoping to locate the pet.

Anyone who sees Abby or who has information in the case is asked to call the Hope Animal Clinic at 205-426-2828.
