ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Georgia General Assembly reconvenes in two weeks, and there are a number of big issues lawmakers will have to tackle, including gun control, fingerprinting daycare workers and funding for a new football stadium.

Charles Gregory, a newly elected state representative, has pre-filed bills that would loosen Georgia's gun laws for citizens who have passed background checks and are licensed to carry guns. The bills would remove the ban on guns in churches and college campuses.

Voter Eddie Selby doesn't like that idea one bit.

"We don't need more guns on campuses or anywhere in churches," Selby said. "All that does is create a problem."

But some disagree, saying it's a matter of self-defense.

"In this day and age we live in, I don't think it's a bad idea," said Jody Mathews of Acworth. "Unfortunately the way things have become recently and the way they've become over the last 20 years, we do have to defend ourselves."

Lawmakers also will consider a bill that would require FBI fingerprinting for all daycare workers. Voters told CBS Atlanta News they were divided on that issue, too.

"I want to know who's caring for my children," said Jamaica Young, who supports the fingerprinting measure.

Eddie O'Dea, another voter, disagrees.

"I don't think there needs to be a law," O'Dea said. "I think employers need to be more diligent about who they hire."

Legislators also will look at how much taxpayers would have pay if plans move ahead to build a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons or whether the team would have to foot the entire bill.

"I'm sick of paying so many taxes. I think we have a perfect stadium," said Jill Pickett, a voter.

A measure to limit value of gifts lawmakers get from lobbyists to $100 also will be considered.

The 2013 session begins January 14. State lawmakers will have 40 working days to pass bills and finalize a budget.
