BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police have released unofficial murder statistics for 2012.

Police expect to report a total of 67 murders within Baton Rouge city limits to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.

The 67 murders would be a 4.7% increase compared to 64 murders in 2011.

During the first eight months of 2012, the city averaged over 7 murders per month, but only 2.5 per month over the last four.

The unofficial number could change before the statistics are submitted.
