PHOENIX (AP) -

Some Phoenix police officers retook their oaths of office Thursday as part of a new policy by Police Chief Daniel Garcia that's aimed at reminding officers of their responsibility to the community.

Members of the police department ranging from the police chief to rank-and-file officers have to take the oath every January.

When taking the oath, officers swear to support the laws and Constitution and defend against all enemies.

Some officers feel it's not necessary for them to reaffirm their commitment to protect the city.
