PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -

A Prescott Valley man was arrested on suspicion of possessing and hauling six pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on New Year's Eve.

Noe Garcia, 20, was pulled over by a Yavapai County sheriff's deputy for allegedly speeding on Interstate 17 in a Cordes Junction highway construction zone.

While speaking with Garcia about the violation, the deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, YCSO said.

The deputy deployed his K-9 for an exterior sniff of the vehicle. The search continued to the trunk, where the deputy found a backpack and duffle bag. The backpack contained one large plastic bag filled with marijuana and the duffle bag held six more of the same, YCSO said.

Garcia acknowledged hauling the marijuana from Phoenix for delivery to Prescott Valley buyers, YCSO said.

Garcia was booked at the Camp Verde Detention center on charges including transportation/sales of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and possessing marijuana.  He remains in custody on $25,000 bond.
