Family thanks community for support after fire destroys home

After a fire left their home in ruins, more than 50 people provided tons of clothes and toys to help the London girls have a joyful Christmas morning.

"They received more than one bike, they received numerous of dolls and toys and gifts and a lot of things that we didn't have before in regards to everything being destroyed in the fire,"  said Sara London.

With one of her two-month-old twins in hand, London told News Leader 9 Friday night she was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming support from people in the community.

"It has opened up for me showing me that there is sweet nice kind people out there that do extend to you a sweet loving hand if you need help," London said.

London says she's grateful, and now that her daughters have most of the the things they need, she's looking forward to building a new home for her family.

"My intentions are to go ahead and do it within the next two months, next month or so something that we can hopefully all say is home for us," London said.

Still, there is long road ahead. London says the investigation into what started the fire is ongoing. Now she and her children's father have met a new challenge.

"In the midst of all this they fired him. So if someone got something they can help him with to help us regain what we lost it would be nice," London said.

Londong says the most important thing is that her children are happy. She recently started a new job. As an independent woman Sara found it hard to accept donations from others but knows she had nowhere else to turn..

"In my time of need people really did extend their hands to us and they really were welcoming to us and for me that was so that was beautiful, it was too beautiful," London said.
