ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A spokeswoman for the Etowah County Sheriff's Office says that Jessica Mae Hardin, who faces charges in the death of her 9-year-old stepdaughter, has been released from jail.

Earlier, a judge had reduced Hardin's bond from $500,000 to $150,000 because, according to the judge, the original bond was out of line with similar non-capital cases.

Hardin is charged with murder in the case. Savannah's grandmother, Joyce Garrard, is charged with capital murder and is in custody on no bond.

Authorities say that February 2012 Savannah Hardin was forced to run for three hours until she collapsed as a punishment for lying
