COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
Columbus police are investigating the city's second murder. Authorities found 51-year-old Brenda Lowe dead in her home on Thomas Street, off Rigdon Road.
Lowe was last seen by family on Saturday. Police made the gruesome discovery Tuesday afternoon while conducting a welfare check at the family's request.
Alrich Boner who knows Lowe and often tends to her yard had a different story. He says he last saw Lowe Monday afternoon.
"The girl came home [and] she went to play a lottery number. She came back home and I saw her yesterday at about 2' O'clock," Boner said.
Friends and family say she would often walk to a nearby convenience store to play the lottery.
Sources close to the case described the crime scene as violent and said Lowe appeared to have been stabbed and shot multiple times.
Family members and people in the community like Alrich Boner say they simply want answers to what caused the death of woman who was quiet and rarely left her home.
"She did not bother [anybody]. She never drink, smoke, or did anything wrong. She's a good girl," Boner said.
So far, no suspects have been identified. Police are still waiting on a preliminary autopsy report from the crime lab which is due back Wednesday.
If you have any information on the case you are asked to call police.
