You may not know this but one in 10 high school students has been hit, slapped or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend.
That's why the Muscogee County School District is teaming up with Hope Harbour for the Speak Out Tour to bring awareness to teenagers about dating violence and educate them early on how to deal with relationships.
"This is going to be a free event targeting 9-12th grade students to come out and become educated about teen dating violence and have them take a pledge that they won't to take part in these activities," said Lauren Davidson with Hope Harbour. "And if they are aware that it's going on that they know the resources they need to contact and what appropriate steps they need to take to get help."
If you're interested in your teenager attending the Speak Out Tour, contact the school's office. Forms have been sent to each high school.
The Speak Out Tour kicks off Saturday February 2 at Peachtree Mall for Muscogee, Chattahoochee and Harris counties along with Phenix City.
The other dates are Saturday February 9 in Marion County, Saturday February 16 in Taylor County, and Saturday February 23 in Talbot County.
