ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Jasmine Hassell scored 19 points as No. 13 Georgia outlasted No. 18 South Carolina 42-40 Sunday to post its lowest winning point total in school history.

South Carolina (14-3, 2-2 Southeastern Conference), led by Aleighsa Welch with 19 points, managed only one field goal in the last 13 minutes.

With Georgia (15-2, 3-1) leading by five, Tiffany Mitchell's short jumper with 1:12 left was South Carolina first field goal of the second half since the 13:57 mark.

Georgia threw the ball away, and Sancheon White's free throws cut the deficit to 41-40 with 44.6 seconds showing.

Georgia killed the clock until Anne Marie Armstrong missed for the seventh time in seven tries. Hassell rebounded and was fouled, making 1 of 2 free throws, and Ashley Bruner shot an air ball on the Gamecocks' final attempt.

Georgia defeated DeKalb College 43-42 on Jan. 17, 1974, the first win in program history.
