BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

With his voice booming into the microphone Dr. Lloyd Benson delivered Monday's sermon at the 17th Annual March for Peace. "If we continue to take an eye for an eye," says Benson, "the whole world will be blind."

He stressed how illegal guns in the black communities are taking its toll on young people. "Illegal guns out there, we need to do something and stop the increase of illegal guns in the hands of criminals," says Benson.

The program also featured a dance tribute, and a short speech from Kwame Asante, president of the Louisiana NAACP. There were also recognition and a prayer for all elected officials during the two hour program.

Appellate Judge John Michael Guidry did the honors of introducing Dr. Lloyd Benson.

"Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly," said Benson re-quoting Dr. Martin Luther King.

Nearly 100 then marched down Government Street singing arm in arm to the Governmental building where they all had lunch. The program wrapped up after lunch.
