David Beckham announced he is retiring from soccer.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Less than a month after announcing he was going to transfer from the University of Georgia, former Columbus Blue Devil baseball star Kyle Carter has found a new home.

Carter has enrolled at Miami-Dade College, and has been penciled into the starting lineup by Sharks head coach Danny Price.

He'll start in left field when Miami-Dade opens the season on Friday at the St. Petersburg Kick-Off Tournament at St. Petersburg College. Carter will also get time on the mound as the Sharks' closer.

He got off to a good start in spring practice, going 6-for-7 at the plate in three practice games.

With the transfer to junior college, Carter will now be eligible to be selected in the MLB Draft in June, instead of having to wait until his third season at UGA.
