ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia couldn't overcome a 21-4 run by Florida to open the second half and fell to the Gators, 64-47 Wednesday night at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia (7-11, 1-4) was led by sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who had 16 points and seven rebounds.

"It was almost a tale of two halves," head coach Mark Fox said. "As well as we started the first half, we didn't start the second half well at all. We just couldn't stabilize our defense in the second half. We just couldn't find a way to get stops in the second half, and they shot the ball very well. You have to give them credit for that. They've got a really good team and I was disappointed in our second half performance tonight, but it was up against a very good team and we have to give credit to them."

Georgia opened the game on an 11-2 run, and took a 27-24 lead into halftime. In the first half, the Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field and limited Florida (15-2, 5-0) to just 1-of-9 from 3-point range.

Florida got off to a quick start in the second half, building a 45-31 lead behind a 21-4 run in the half's first ten minutes. During the run, the Bulldogs committed five turnovers and shot just 1-of-8 from the field.

Georgia cut the lead to as few as 12 points, but couldn't overcome Florida shooting 50 percent from the field, including 64 percent from 3-point range.

The Gators committed just seven turnovers in the entire game, and scored 18 points off Georgia's 17 turnovers.

Florida was led by Scottie Wilbekin who had 17 points. Will Yeguete led the Gators on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Georgia will make its first ever trip to College Station, Texas, Saturday to play first-year SEC-member Texas A&M. The game will tip off at 6:00 p.m. ET.
