Freezing rain advisory canceled for north Alabama

Posted: Updated:
MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Freezing Rain Advisory has been canceled for north Alabama.

Cold and dry air has been moving into the area Thursday. Early Friday morning a layer of warmer air will move over this cold shallow air mass.

Eventually, we will all see just a chilly rain. Areas of Jackson, DeKalb and Marshall counties will see the moisture move in a little bit later.

By the early afternoon hours most, if not all, of North Alabama will have temperatures above freezing.

Cities are advising drivers to use caution on the roadways.

Several schools have already announced school delays for Friday.

Stay with the WAFF 48 Storm Team on-air and online for updates on this developing winter weather threat.
