COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened just before 9 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 6th Avenue and 32nd Street, near River Road and Veterans Parkway.

Kristan Dozier, 20, was transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

A preliminary autopsy report shows that Dozier was shot in the arm and left shoulder.

News Leader 9 spoke with a neighbor who says things like this are common in the area. "We grew up here and back then, we didn't have to worry about locking doors, or screen doors. You'd go to bed at night and leave your doors open and not have to worry about nobody coming in your house or anything. Now you have to bolt your windows and just about bolt your doors at night, " said John Chatwood, neighbor.

Police are still investigating the case. So far, there has been no word on a possible suspect.

This is the city's fourth murder of the year.

It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
