PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An argument between a couple who have been together for more than 20 years ended with the boyfriend stabbing his girlfriend numerous times. He then turned and stabbed his 18-year-old daughter.

On the afternoon of Jan. 26, Julian Sanchez and his 38-year-old longtime girlfriend got in an argument over their relationship in their home in the area of 1500 E. Mobile Lane in Phoenix. Sanchez was so angry that he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his girlfriend, according to Phoenix police.

Sanchez's 18-year-old daughter tried to help her mother and break up the fight only to be stabbed by her father in the arm.

Sanchez fled from the home before Phoenix police arrived. Officers talked to Sanchez's family members but were unable to locate him.

Phoenix police said that on Tuesday Sanchez turned himself in at the Southern Command Station at 3443 S. Central Avenue.

Sanchez has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault and was booked into the Maricopa County Jail.

Sanchez's girlfriends injuries from the stabbing are serious but she is in stable condition and is expected to survive. The daughter's injuries are non-life threatening.
