    News Leader 9 was on the scene after a man was shot at the Big Cat Gas Station on Buena Vista Road Thursday night. The victim was approached by the suspect, who opened fire and shot him. The victim was also carrying a gun and returned fire, but did not hit the suspect. He was taken to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.More >>
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Attorney Mark Hummels, the attorney wounded by a gunman in a Phoenix workplace shooting, died Thursday night.

Hummels was one of three people shot by alleged gunman Arthur Harmon, 70, at an office building near 16th Street and Glendale Avenue on Wednesday.

Athia Hard, a spokeswoman for the law firm Osborn Maledon which employed Hummels, said Hummels was declared brain dead and taken off life support Thursday night.

In a statement on Thursday, Osborn Maledon said:

"We have been informed that Mark will not survive from the shooting.

"We are devastated at the loss of our beloved friend. Our deepest sympathy and support pour out to his wife, Dana, and their two children. The trust and affection Mark inspired in every reach of our law firm and with his clients are a lasting testament we will always cherish.

"We are sad beyond measure also to have lost our longtime friend and client, Steven D. Singer, the CEO of Fusion Contact Centers, in this tragedy. Steve was a longtime client of the firm and an accomplished entrepreneur. Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve's family as well."

Police said Harmon also wounded a 32-year-old woman at the office building.

Harmon was found dead in a Mesa parking lot on Thursday morning. Police said they believe he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
