PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -

A Nevada school psychologist has been charged with 21 counts of possession of child pornography related to cases in Arizona and Nevada.

Guardians of a 12-year-old victim told Peoria police that Perry Hood, 69, was having an inappropriate relationship with their daughter, said Peoria police spokeswoman Amanda Jacinto.

They believed he was luring her into posing for explicit pictures in the desert of north Peoria at the end of 2012 and into the beginning of 2013, Jacinto said.

Hood, who lives in Tonopah, NV, has been a family friend for about three years, police said.

Peoria police, working with local Nevada law enforcement officials, obtained a search warrant to go into the home looking for evidence.

As they were serving the warrant at the home, the Nye County Sheriff's Office found reasons on their own to look into activities in their jurisdiction, said Jacinto.

Peoria police found evidence in his home to think there are other young girl victims in Peoria, Jacinto said.

Hood was arrested Jan. 22. After his arrest, Hood reportedly told investigators the photographs were research he was doing to better understand young victims of sexual abuse, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
