COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Columbus liquor store has been targeted by armed robbers three times in seven days.

A store employee recounted Thursday night's robbery and said it's the last time he's going to be victimized.

He's had his life threatened one too many times and now he's handing his resignation to the store owner effective immediately.

"I'm going to let him know, this is my final day.  I'm going to walk there and tell him, I'm finished," said Edward Person.

Person recently boarded up the back entrance to the store after the door was kicked down.  It was the first in this week's series of robberies.

"Do you see my plywood that I put up over the back door?  They tried to get through the back.  They couldn't get through the front," said Person.

During last night's robbery, Person says he hid a refrigerated cooler in the back of the store.  The suspect told him not to come out or he was going to shoot.

"He said he was going to kill me, you know, he's going to kill me. Why would he want to kill me? I don't own anything," said Person.

Though he was in the cooler, Person was able to see the man through a small opening and watched him take several bottles off the shelf.  Person said it's becoming too dangerous to work in that neighborhood and told the owner of the store he doesn't feel safe anymore.

"He thinks he knows everybody, but he doesn't.  He doesn't know everybody because these people don't care around here," said Person.

Detectives were back on the scene today questioning people in the surrounding area but they have not provided us with any updates on their investigation.

So far, we don't know whether these robberies are related or being committed by different people.  Person described last night's suspect as being 6 feet tall, wearing khaki pants and a camouflage hunting jacket.  He was also wearing a dark cap with ear flaps and was carrying a TEC-9 pistol with an extended clip.
