DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A multi-county team effort led to the arrest of two people on drug charges.

Decatur Police performed a joint investigation with the Limestone County Sheriff's narcotics unit and the Athens Police narcotics unit. The investigation lasted several weeks.

Officials said Thomas Armstrong was traveling from Decatur to Athens to sell drugs.

Decatur agents stopped Armstrong's vehicle at the Wavaho station on Wilson Street. A K-9 unit found drugs in the vehicle at which point Armstrong tried to run.

The K-9, Bear, quickly caught him.

Investigators confiscated Spice, cocaine and a hand gun.

Athens agents searched Armstrong's home and found prescription medication, ecstasy and a cache of weapons.

Armstrong and his passenger, Craigery Miller, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Armstrong was additionally charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and a moving violation.

Athens Police issued additional warrants for Armstrong.
