BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

While Ravens and 49ers prep for tomorrow's big game, volunteers across New Orleans spent the day giving back to the community. In Baton Rouge, one chemical plant decided to spread the "Super Saturday of Service" fun to the Capital cCty.

Instead of heading to the Big Easy for Superbowl festivities, hundreds of employees from BASF Chemical Plant in Geismar spent the day in Baton Rouge.

"I was just very excited. I was just ready to get out here, get started and just welcome all the volunteers. Everybody had a smile on their face. Everybody was excited," said future homeowner Dianne Clark.

BASF is a sponsor for the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee. Geismar site Vice President, Tom Yura, says part of their sponsorship agreement is to participate in the "Super Saturday of Service" Habitat for Humanity builds.

"For us, being located in the Geismar, Louisiana area and Zachary and Port Allen...we thought, why should New Orleans have everything? Why can't we spread it out a little bit across the state? So we came up with the idea to talk to the host committee and suggested, why don't we move it to Baton Rouge," said Yura.

Yura says being a part of what's going on in New Orleans this weekend is great, but helping out people like Dianne Clark is much more rewarding.

"Over the course of a day, seeing the walls be put together, raised and the house coming together, you know at the end of the day you've done something not only to improve yourself but to improve the community and really make a difference to somebody that you've met," said Yura.

Clark says they've already made a difference in her life, and they're helping her get into her dream home faster. She says all the walls and roof should be done today thanks to the BASF crew.

"It's a lot of things that they could be doing, but they chose to come out this morning and spend time out here volunteering their hours to help me. So I'm very appreciative to them," said Clark.

Clark says her home should be ready for her and her family to move into sometime this summer.
