ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was named as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement on Monday by the league office in Birmingham.

Caldwell-Pope played key roles in a pair of Georgia's victories last week, averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, shooting 64 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3-point range. The Bulldogs defeated Auburn at home 57-49 in their first game and the Greenville, Ga., native recorded his third double-double of the season, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, both team-high honors. He scored four of his points and had two critical rebounds in the final 1:07, enabling Georgia to break open the close game.

Three days later Caldwell-Pope scored a team-high 19 points in Georgia's 67-56 win at South Carolina. After scoring 16 first-half points, he took just three shots in the final period. His only bucket of the half, however, gave the Bulldogs their first double-digit lead of the game with 4:35 left.

Caldwell-Pope currently ranks among the SEC leaders in nine categories for which individual statistics are kept. Most prominent of those is scoring, where he is second behind Ole Miss' Marshall Henderson at 17.5 points per contest. He also ranks second in the league in steals at 2.1 per game, which also ranks him 24th among all NCAA Division I players.

Georgia (10-11, 4-4) goes for its fourth consecutive SEC victory Wednesday night at Tennessee. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET.
