Feb. 4th: KSLA News 12 No budget-No pay Editorial

Posted: Updated:

Something silly is happening in Washington. It's called No budget-no pay. Here's the idea.

Congress needs to pass a budget. In order to get our lawmakers to actually do that by April 15th, members of the house of representatives and the senate won't get a paycheck unless they approve a budget.

The reason we elect these people is to get things done in Washington. It's odd they need a threat - not getting paid, for example, in order to accomplish the task. Businesses, families, states and local governments are forced to craft a budget to live within their means, it is time for Washington to do the same. And, it's is a little silly that our representatives in Washington have to be threatened with not getting paid in order to get something done.

I'm James Smith.
