TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Dawn Parnell, spokesperson for Tyler ISD, confirmed that a female student was hit on the campus of Robert E. Lee High School Thursday morning.

The student was walking across campus when another student driving on campus reportedly hit her. The student was taken to a Tyler hospital.

TISD Superintendent Gary Mooring says they are still investigating the cause of the accident. They are not sure at this time if the student driving was distracted in any way, but Mooring offered a few general guidelines for all students. Mooring said, " Don't text while your driving, and don't be on a cell phone while driving in the car while the car is moving, especially in the parking lots.  Be aware that students are coming out in between cars in the parking lot.  Just generally, be aware and look around, and don't be distracted by other things."

According to Parnell, the student was taken to the hospital with external injuries, but she has now been released.

No charges will be filed against the students.
