BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Following the shooting in Connecticut, a school in Alabama says it has come up with one way to "beef" up security: panic buttons.

The devices have been handed out to teachers and staff at Orange Beach Elementary School.

When the button is pushed, blue lights go off throughout the school prompting everyone to go into lockdown mode.
