HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Trial began Monday for a man accused of killing two Alabama A&M students.

Wilbert James Smith, of Montgomery, is charged with two counts of capital murder.

Investigators said he shot and killed BJ Peterson and Ronnie Pugh in 2008.

Smith has already served time for another murder - a 1998 drive-by shooting that killed a teenager in Montgomery.

He pleaded guilty in that case.
