Heavy rain floods apartment complex parking lot

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

"Cambridge Lake. That's where we stay...we stay at Cambridge Lake, haha."

It's the nickname Joycelyn Roberts gave her apartment complex after flood waters started rising Sunday night.

"I was outside taking pictures all night just watching it come up."

By daylight, she saw a lake outside her front door.

"Some cars over here are under water."

Roberts didn't go to work. Her children didn't go to school.

"Everybody's in their houses," she says.

Crews have been pumping water out of the parking lot since the rain stopped, but residents say it's only a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

"Everybody knows...it's hard. No one wants to come out here," says Roberts.

After only five months of living at Cambridge Park, Roberts has seen the parking lot fill up with water multiple times.

"This is the worst it has ever been."

She fears it is unsafe for residents, especially children.

WSFA 12 News called the leasing office to speak with managers about the issue.

No one returned our calls.

All Roberts wants is property owners to "reconstruct it or something, you know what I mean? It's horrible."
