AUGUSTA, Ga. - Taren White was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
White had one of the best games ever by a Lady Cougar basketball player on Saturday against North Georgia in Dahlonega. White scored 38 points in 29 minutes of action leading the Lady Cougars to a crucial 84-75 victory over North Georgia. The 38 points are the second most ever by a CSU player in a single-game as the sophomore came up just one point shy of tying Que Gilliam's record. White went 1-for-2 from the free throw line with five seconds remaining with the chance to tie the record.
White went 13-for-18 from the floor and was also 11-for-13 from the free throw line. She led the team with seven rebounds and four steals.
On Thursday, White netted 15 in Columbus State's 79-61 victory over Georgia Southwestern in Americus.
For the week, White averaged 26.5 points and shot a sizzling 64.5 percent (20-for-31) from the floor. She was almost perfect from the charity stripe hitting 12-of-14 free throw attempts. The Grayson, GA native also chipped in nine rebounds, two assists and five steals.
