COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The condition of a Columbus woman allegedly set on fire by her boyfriend is improving.

Valleri Smith's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious. Her family told News Leader 9 she had another surgery Monday at the Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA.

Smith, 44, received second and third-degree burns on her face, neck and shoulders.

Police charged Robert Williams, 35, with aggravated assault after they say he threw lighter fluid on her and set her on fire in their apartment last week.

A judge set his bond at $100,000.
