Move will help individuals evaluate former military personnel.
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) February 13, 2013
MilitaryRecords.us.org has updated their database to list the discharge status of all military personnel, the company said yesterday.
“In the past, our military records checks focused on time of service, final rank, and medals awarded,” company spokesman Josh Fraser said. “But, our customer service team reported to us that the most common question we were getting was about discharge statuses, so we've upgraded our reports to put that information front and center.”
The company said that individuals are particularly interested in discharge status when doing a background check on any personnel applicant who lists a military history on his or her papers.
“As more soldiers come home from Iraq and Afghanistan and seek civilian jobs, more and more companies are going to need information about their military background,” Fraser said. “And, while rank is interesting to them, the reasons they left the service are even more telling.”
Fraser said that employers are much more likely to hire someone with an honorable discharge than a general discharge, and more likely to pass on an applicant with a dishonorable discharge.
“There are reasons that some men and women leave the military that would give the average individuals pause about hiring them,” Fraser said. “And, we would not be doing these people a favor by obscuring that.”
The company said they wanted to make it clear that they are not trying to sully the name of former service people.
“The vast majority of soldiers coming home and looking for work are real American heroes,” Fraser said.
MilitaryRecords.us.org is a database that provides service members, families, and more with access to military records and other public records in minutes. From family military history research to a veteran checking their own record, the MilitaryRecords.us.org database can find all information available.
