FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Students at Fort Benning's McBride Elementary School had a special "Valentines for Veterans" assembly Thursday.

More than 40 veterans from Columbus and Phenix City attended the event.

Students got to show their appreciation to the veterans by serenading them, presenting a video, and of course-- passing out Valentines cards.

We spoke to an Army captain who says this event is important to help veterans feel appreciated.

Among the veterans who attended was Bo Callaway, the son of the founder of Callaway Gardens.
