COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - There is nearly a 70 percent chance that a male student who drops out of school will end up going to jail or prison.
The Free Youth Summit happening this weekend at Carver High School in Columbus aims to reduce those chances by educating parents and students.
Melvin Blackwell, chief of student services for the Muscogee County School District, visited News Leader 9 on Wednesday to talk about the upcoming event.
The workshop will be held Saturday Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at G.W. Carver High School, located at 3100 8th Street in Columbus.
