(WTVM) -
The flu season is
beginning to calm down as we make our way into the spring, but there is still
cause for alarm after new studies show how ineffective it can be for seniors.
For those 65 or older, it
was found that the vaccine for the flu was only 9 percent effective in
protecting people in that age group.
News Leader 9 spoke with Dr.
Clark Gillett with Columbus Regional about why the flu shot is not working as
well for the elderly.
Health experts say the
number of flu cases is declining in most areas.
The study found the
vaccine was about 56 percent effective in adults under the age of 65 and
children.
