Cable provider WOW! coming to Columbus

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

In less than a week, television viewers may be watching TV in a different way.

That's because the cable company WOW! has bought out Knology, becoming the ninth largest cable company in the country.

Many Knology users throughout the valley will now be sending their monthly cable, internet or phone bill to WOW! instead.

We spoke with Colleen Abdoulah, CEO and chairwoman of the board for WOW!, who tells us what she hopes to do by combining these two companies.

"We're hoping to continue to grow the company, we didn't buy Knology so that we can just stay stagnant," Abdoulah. "Our goal is to grow and to add employees and to really create opportunities for our current employees."

Abdoulah hopes that within the year, this merger will be able to create more jobs throughout Columbus and boost the economy.

The deal between Knology and WOW! closed last July, and will be visible throughout the valley starting March 5.
