COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus city council has decided to revoke the Majestic Sports Bar's liquor license for one year.

Weaver was not in court Tuesday morning and was represented by his daughter and his attorney Alfonza Whitaker.

Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson says the city has reached out to owner James Weaver several times for meetings and he has never responded.

Weaver's attorney says the club wants the opportunity to continue to run the club and they will work with the city.

News Leader 9's Brittany Dionne was in court Tuesday morning when the verdict was passed. She spoke with Whitaker, who says the family plans to use the establishment for charitable events and weddings in the future.

The family will now focus their attention on the TBA meeting to revoke the business license and take possession of the building by the city.

The club was the site of the New Year's Eve shooting that left one dead and six injured.
