Monroe football duo becoming Hurricanes

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two Monroe Tornadoes are about to become Hurricanes- Louisburg College Hurricanes to be exact.

Offensive tackle Hakeem Porter and defensive end Cortez Banks are heading to the North Carolina junior college next season.

Porter was a four year starter on the Tornadoes offensive line, while Banks led the team in sacks last season.

The present and future teammates say playing together at the next level has been a goal of theirs all along.

"We've been saying since 9th grade that we wanted to go to college with everyone of our friends," Porter says. "It'll better ourselves because we can help each other, either on the field, in the classroom, or any other thing that we need help with."

Porter and Banks say the Hurricanes' winning tradition is a big part of what drew them to Louisburg.
