Opelika Police looking for suspect connected to Sunday shooting

The Opelika Police Department needs your help finding a man connected to the Sunday shooting that left one man dead.

Authorities are searching for Montavious Kentrell Askew, also known as "Dunke," in connection with the murder of Andrew Cornelious Jones.

Askew has been known to reside at several different locations throughout Opelika. Askew is 19 years of age and described as being approximately 6'1" tall and weighing about 185 pounds.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Montavious Askew is asked to call the Opelika Police Department Investigative Services Division at 334-705-5220 or the Secret Witness Hotline at 334-745-8665.

Jones was shot in the abdomen on Sunday March 17 on Dogwood Avenue in Opelika at about 9 p.m. Jones, 29, was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

Several people nearby reported hearing a gunshot and said they saw a gray or silver vehicle speeding from the area.

This is Opelika's second murder investigation of 2013.
