(WTVM) - It was a beautiful weekend for Thunder in the Valley…but attendance was down.
Organizers of the 16th annual air show told News Leader 9 there was about a 25 percent dip from last year's attendance.
This is partly because 3,000 Army trainees could not come to the air show. Because of budget cuts from sequestration, the military was forced to withdraw from Thunder in the Valley, which took place at the Columbus Airport over the weekend.
All proceeds from the event benefit local children's charities. Nearly $50,000 was raised last year. We're waiting on a tally for this year.
