MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A woman was burned after a fire broke out at a Mesa home Monday night, fire authorities said.

Firefighters described the blaze as "intense and rapidly spreading."

The woman suffered burns to her face and was taken to Maricopa Medical Center for treatment.

When firefighters arrived at 1055 E. Sixth Place at about 7:45 p.m., they found the woman unconscious but breathing in the entryway of the home.

Most of the fire damage occurred in the kitchen, firefighters said.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

It took fire crews about 35 minutes to bring the fire under control.

No other information was immediately available.
