HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

Hoover police say a woman was stabbed to death and a man shot himself in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night.

The female victim has been identified as Kimberly Jamison Ozburn, a 39-year-old from Hoover. Police believe she was stabbed multiple times by a man she had recently been dating, 55-year-old Jimmy Lee Frizzell of Fultondale.

"While the crime scene and evidence are still being examined, it appears that the male subject killed the female and then shot himself," Captain Gregg Rector with Hoover PD said in a release.

Ozburn's body was found on the floor near a bedroom at the home and Frizzell's body was found inside a bedroom at the home.

Tuesday night police responded to a home in the 2300 block of Queensview Road after a 911 came in around 9:25 p.m. reporting that a man was assaulting an adult female with a knife.

Captain Rector said Hoover officers responded to the scene within five minutes of the 911 call and spoke with Ozburn's mother, who owns the house where the murder-suicide occurred. The mother escaped from the home when she realized the assault was happening, police said.

When police entered the home, they found both Ozburn and Frizzell dead inside.

Hoover police officers responded to the same home nearly a month ago, on Feb. 21, 2013, on a report of a domestic incident. Captain Rector said there was a verbal argument in that incident, but "no violence occurred and no threats were made."

This apparent murder-suicide is not related to a possible murder-suicide involving a mother and daughter found dead inside The Park at Rocky Ridge Apartments. Officials believe their deaths may be connected to a man's body found in Fairfield Wednesday morning, and say that case could be a murder-suicide. That investigation is on-going.
