Sky Harbor Airport is the site of hundreds of reunions each day, but this one is 60 years in the making.
"It's unbelievable, I don't have the words. I'm sorry," said Donna Silvius.
As soon as you meet Silvius you know she's someone you'd want to know.
"I am holding it together," she said.
Silvius is a sweet septuagenarian holding it together for a day that, until recently, she didn't even know she'd been waiting for.
"I'm meeting my sister for the first time, ever," she said.
Wednesday was the day Silvius met the person who's wanted to know her, her whole life - her little sister.
"She's 59, I'm 74," Silvius said.
Silvius and her sister have the same dad.
"The war came along and divorce and then daddy remarried and Carolyn came along. She knew about me but I had no idea that I had a sister," she said.
With the help of ancestry.com Silvius' sister, Carolyn Canfield found her. The two have been chatting on the phone every day ever since.
"We have a similar personality. We love to have fun on the phone, give each other a hard time, cry a bit. Say 'I love you' a lot, and we've never met. But there's still something there and, I'm just happy," Silvius said.
So Silvius waits, sitting inside terminal two for the longest 15 minutes of her life. And then, the moment arrives. Silvius and Canfield, sisters for nearly 60 years, meet for the first time.
"That was the longest flight I ever took in my life," Canfield said.
You can see the similarities, and that sisterly bond is already there.
"She is family, there's no doubt. There's no doubt," Canfield said.
So the long lost sisters start the next step in their journey. They head to Silvius' house to catch up on 60 years of the memories, and to start making new ones.
